H&S Lead

Our client, a well-established construction and utilities company, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead to support and oversee works across clean and wastewater treatment sites throughout Scotland. This is a key leadership role, reporting into the Head of HSE for Scotland and managing a small Health & Safety team.

Role Overview

The Health & Safety Lead will be responsible for driving health, safety, and environmental standards across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with legislation, company procedures, and client requirements. The role will involve a mix of site presence, team management, and strategic H&S leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and managing health & safety across clean and wastewater treatment projects

• Providing H&S support and guidance to construction and utilities teams

• Managing and mentoring a small team of H&S professionals

• Reporting into the Head of HSE for Scotland on performance, incidents, and improvements

• Conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments

• Investigating incidents, near misses, and implementing corrective actions

• Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation

• Promoting a strong safety culture across all operational teams

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior or lead H&S role within construction or utilities

• Strong knowledge of clean and wastewater treatment environments

• Experience managing H&S teams

• NEBOSH qualification or equivalent (essential)

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Willingness to travel to sites across Scotland
