The Opportunity

An established engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to help establish and grow a new civil engineering sub-team within its London office.

The business currently operates with three established teams. This role will play a key part in strengthening the London offering, working alongside both existing team members and new hires as the group continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver civil engineering design for residential and private sector developments, with a strong focus on housebuilding projects
  • Take technical ownership of drainage design, including surface and foul water strategies
  • Produce and review detailed designs using Site3D, AutoCAD, and Causeway Flow
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers within the team
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders to ensure project delivery
  • Support the development and structure of the new London sub-team
  • Ensure work is delivered in line with industry standards, client requirements, and best practice

About You

  • Proven experience delivering housebuilding and residential/private sector projects
  • Strong background in civil infrastructure and drainage design
  • Advanced user of Site3D, AutoCAD, and Causeway Flow
  • Comfortable working in a leadership role within a growing team environment
  • Able to attend the London office at least two days per week
  • Commercially aware with a collaborative, hands-on approach
