Location: DerbySalary: Competitive (dependent on experience)Hours: Minimum 37.5 hours per week (Core hours 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday to Friday)Holiday: In line with industry standards

Overview

An established, design-led engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its experienced civil engineering team in Derby.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of development-led infrastructure schemes across residential, commercial and industrial sectors, with project values ranging from £250,000 to £30m. Many schemes are delivered to BIM Level 2 standards.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure design packages from concept through to technical approval and construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and drafting of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)

  • Design of private external works and site infrastructure

  • Preparation of Section 38 and Section 104 works for adoption

  • Production of civil engineering designs across residential, industrial and commercial sectors

  • Liaison with local authorities and statutory undertakers

  • Preparation of drainage strategies and supporting technical reports

  • Use of industry-standard software including Civil 3D or PDS, and InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage

  • Production of final technical drawings in AutoCAD

  • Deputising for the Team Leader when required, assisting in the planning and coordination of tasks and resources

  • Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with current design standards and within agreed timeframes

Experience Required
  • 3-5 years' post-graduate experience within a civil engineering consultancy

  • Strong background in infrastructure design for development projects

  • Demonstrable experience using AutoCAD for technical drawing (tested at interview)

  • Experience using Civil 3D or PDS

  • Experience using InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage

  • Good knowledge of the construction industry and relevant UK design standards

  • Understanding of basic health and safety requirements within construction

  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving

  • Experience working towards or interested in progressing to Chartered Engineer status (ICE support provided)

  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery requirements

  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel

Education
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Strong academic background demonstrating analytical capability
