Caretaker/Handyperson

Central Richmond, Twickenham & Mortlake

£30,000 £35,000 + Competitive Benefits (live in or out)

Full-time 8:30am 5pm Mon Fri + occasional call-outs

An established and highly respected community based housing organisation is seeking a Caretaker/Handyperson to support the smooth running of 14 sites across Richmond.

This is a varied, hands on role combining practical maintenance, estates oversight, compliance support and supervision of two part-time Assistant Caretakers.

In the role of Caretaker/Handyperson -

You will:

  • Provide a proactive, responsive maintenance service across multiple sites
  • Carry out weekly inspections and maintain accurate records

  • Undertake first line repairs (basic carpentry, plumbing, electrics and general maintenance)

  • Oversee contractors and support health & safety compliance

  • Supervise two Assistant Caretakers and coordinate daily workloads

  • Ensure communal areas, grounds and external spaces are safe, clean and welcoming

  • Participate in occasional emergency call-outs

  • Maintain a visible and supportive presence for residents

This role requires regular travel between sites and a full UK driving licence and your own vehicle (vehicle expenses will be covered)

About You -

For the role of Caretaker/Handyperson, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong practical maintenance experience
  • Is organised and confident managing workload across multiple locations
  • Understands basic building services and health & safety requirements
  • Is approachable, professional and resident-focused
  • Is comfortable with lone working
  • Has basic IT skills for logging and reporting

Additional Information -

  • If successfully appointed an Enhanced DBS will be completed
  • Participation in occasional on call duties is required

  • There may be an option to live on-site (to be discussed at interview)

  • Work vehicle expenses (MOT, servicing, insurance) covered
