  • Senior Electrical Estimator (Highways)
  • Watford (Hybrid-working)
  • c£60,000 per year (+ Package)

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to take ownership of tendering activity across highways electrical projects including street lighting, traffic signals, CMS/VMS, feeder pillars and associated infrastructure works.

This is a commercially focused role responsible for delivering accurate, competitive, and strategically aligned submissions within live infrastructure and framework environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for highways electrical projects (£50k-£5m+)
  • Review drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities
  • Price works from first principles, including Design & Build schemes
  • Build labour, plant, material, and subcontract cost models
  • Lead supplier/subcontractor enquiries and quotation negotiations
  • Manage tenders from enquiry through to submission and adjudication
  • Conduct risk assessments and margin reviews
  • Identify value engineering opportunities
  • Provide structured handovers to delivery teams
  • Maintain estimating data, benchmarking, and market intelligence

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience estimating highways electrical or street lighting projects
  • Strong knowledge of highway infrastructure standards and BS7671
  • Experience within term maintenance or infrastructure frameworks
  • Commercially astute with strong risk and margin awareness
  • Proficient in estimating software (eg, Conquest, Trimble, Amtech)
  • Able to manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines
