Freelance Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We are working with a Birmingham-based subcontractor undertaking work on multiple private sector schemes across the West Midlands. We are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support on a few schemes in the Birmingham area.

Your Day-To-Day Duties:

You will support the commercial team in managing costs, maximising value, and ensuring effective commercial control across the project.

• Producing weekly and monthly cost and value reconciliations
• Capturing, allocating, and reporting costs and liabilities
• Supporting strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
• Assisting with the preparation of commercial tenders, offers, and contracts
• Identifying and escalating non-compliant or inappropriate costs
• Recording and monitoring insurance claims
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date commercial and contract records
• Capturing and reporting direct labour costs
• Drafting, reviewing, and awarding sub-contracts

The Requirements

• Relevant degree qualification in Quantity Surveying
• Subcontractor experience
• Varied contract experience
• Self-motivated and an ability to work alone
• Ability to take initiative in resolving problems.
• Previous surveying responsibilities
• Ability to us MS Excel

Salary & Package

The rate on offer is negotiable, dependent on an individuals experience.
