Senior Engineer - Infrastructure & Highways

Location: East Anglia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: 375 to 410 per shift

Our client is a leading civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the regions. With a strong track record in complex earthworks, road construction, foundations, drainage, and public realm schemes, they pride themselves on delivering safe, high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Due to continued growth and secured work, we are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join the project delivery team.

The Role

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for managing engineering activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design specifications and programme requirements. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Agents, subcontractors, and the client team to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day engineering and setting-out activities on site
  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and method statements
  • Manage and mentor Site Engineers and junior staff
  • Coordinate subcontractors and specialist suppliers
  • Review and interpret construction drawings and resolve technical queries (RFI process)
  • Ensure quality control procedures and inspection test plans (ITPs) are followed
  • Maintain accurate site records, as-builts, and progress reporting
  • Support temporary works coordination and implementation
  • Assist in programme management and cost control
  • Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance

Requirements

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (preferred)
  • Proven experience working for a civil engineering contractor
  • Experience in earthworks, drainage, road construction, utilities, and RC and structures
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methods and sequencing
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations
  • SMSTS/CSCS (or equivalent) preferred

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working on infrastructure schemes
  • NEC contract experience
  • Temporary works coordination experience
  • Experience delivering projects for local authorities or national highway bodies
