Job Description

A leading utilities and infrastructure contractor is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to act as the commercial lead on utility infrastructure projects. The role is responsible for commercial performance, contract compliance and financial delivery, while promoting a collaborative approach with clients and the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as commercial lead across live utility infrastructure projects

  • Negotiate and agree subcontract terms and conditions

  • Manage subcontractor and supplier payments

  • Ensure compliance with contractual rights and obligations

  • Manage changes under NEC3/NEC4 Option A & C contracts

  • Assess commercial impact of variations and compensation events

  • Monitor contract performance, programme and cost risk

  • Undertake site visits to align commercial control with delivery

  • Manage project close-out and final accounts

  • Evaluate budget changes and capture cost variances

  • Collate defined cost records for audit purposes

  • Produce monthly CVRs, valuations and earned value analysis

  • Validate subcontract applications and payment data

  • Maintain change registers and commercial records

  • Contribute to monthly commercial reporting

  • Build and maintain strong client and supply chain relationships

Candidate Profile

  • Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil or utilities infrastructure

  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline

  • MRICS or MCIOB desirable

  • Line management experience

  • Strong commercial, legal and contractual awareness

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting

  • Background within construction or infrastructure sector

  • Valid UK driving licence and appropriate CSCS card
