Construction Director South Wales
An established construction company based in South Wales are looking for an experienced Construction Director to lead and strengthen its operational function.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all live project delivery, protecting gross margin, driving operational excellence, and ensuring a strong, structured construction platform to support continued growth.
You will take full accountability for construction operations across multiple live sites, ensuring:
Projects are delivered safely, on time and to agreed quality standards
Gross margins are protected and enhanced
Operational risks are controlled
Client relationships remain strong through the delivery phase
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Full responsibility for live project delivery across all sites
Ensure programme certainty and implement recovery plans where required
Chair internal Operations Meetings
Oversee resource allocation (labour, management & plant)
Ensure structured mobilisation and demobilisation processes
Margin & Cost Protection
Work closely with the Commercial Director to protect GM
Review monthly CVRs with a strong operational lens
Challenge site prelims, inefficiencies and waste
Ensure variations are properly captured and recovered
Reduce abortive works and rework
Team Leadership & Culture
Recruit, develop and retain strong site teams
Mentor Operations Managers
Address underperformance decisively
Embed company values across the construction function
Health, Safety & Quality
Drive a proactive HSEQ culture across all projects
Ensure compliance with CDM and Principal Contractor duties
Work closely with the HSEQ function to eliminate repeat issues
Conduct site audits and director-level walkarounds
This position offers a highly competitive salary package, complemented by an excellent performance related bonus structure.
Please be aware this is not a hybrid opportunity. The successful candidate will need to be permanently based in South Wales to fulfil the requirements of the role.
