Freelance Quantity Surveyor - New Build Retail - East Yorkshire
An experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor is required to support a Main Contractor delivering new-build retail developments across the East area. The role will focus on leading subcontract procurement and providing commercial support through the early and delivery stages of the live project.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the full subcontract procurement process for new-build retail projects, including tender documentation, enquiry issuance, tender analysis, and subcontractor recommendations.
Negotiate subcontract terms to achieve best value while maintaining programme, quality, and commercial objectives.
Prepare, agree, and place subcontract orders in accordance with NEC or other relevant forms of contract.
Manage early subcontractor engagement to mitigate commercial and delivery risk.
Work closely with project and site teams to ensure procurement strategies align with build programmes and delivery requirements.
Support commercial reporting, including cost plans, procurement trackers, and cashflow forecasting.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor procuring subcontract packages for new-build projects within a Main Contractor environment (retail experience preferred).
Strong working knowledge of NEC or comparable contract forms.
Commercially astute with strong negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple procurement packages to tight deadlines.
Immediate or short-notice availability is highly desirable.
