Profile for job 00024598, Intermediate Quantity Surveyor. I am currently recruiting for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to work for a long standing company based in the Hayes area. The company the ideal QS will be working for specialise in the Architectural Metalwork and Glass sector. The Quantity Surveyor will be working on projects within the commercial and residential Sectors. The successful Intermediate/ Senior Quantity Surveyor will be working on projects such as London's Kings Cross, the O2 Skywalk, Airports, high end residential developments and the Olympic Stadium. The QS will be specialising in the Architectural Metalwork and Glass sector so previous experience would be looked upon valuably. The most suitable candidate for this position will have a wide knowledge of the construction industry and the current climate within the industry. The Quantity Surveyor will also be looking to join a company with great career progression and with an aim to securing a job with longevity. Job Title: Quantity Surveyor Location: Leeds Salary: £32,000 - £36,000 Working Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8.30am - 5pm; Friday 8.30am - 4.45pm My client established since 1924, has been at the forefront of the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke architectural metalwork and is now universally acclaimed as one of the UK's market leaders. They work extensively throughout the UK and are proud to have been chosen by many internationally renowned clients to showcase their brand to the high-street or provide internal metal finishes for their buildings. They also manufacture and supply products for projects across the globe and work with clients, contractors, specifiers and developers from a number of different countries. The Role: * To protect the Business against legal and contractual risks with regard to contract terms, variations and action failures by client during the course of the contract. * To provide a full range of pre/post contract quantity surveying (QS) duties, including assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of the build process. * Seeks to maximise the financial position of each contract whilst maintaining the relationship with the client. * Seeks to resolve any dispute via direct negotiation with client or prepares for legal action (as a last resort) * To work in cohesion with the Commercial Director. * Responsibility for the Preparation and submission of Interim applications for payment / invoices to client * Responsibility for the preparation, valuation and agreement of variations to contract * Possess the ability to produce cost value reconciliation reports * Possess the ability to prepare Sub-contract orders; Valuations and Final Accounts. * Responsibility for preparing and agreeing Final Accounts. * To agree sub-contract packages and job specifics; authorising sub-contract payments along with agreement to day work, ensuring variations are properly recorded and recovered on a monthly basis * To provide cost analysis to assist the Project Managers and Finance Manager with mid-month cost to complete forecasts. * Responsibility for maintaining good quality and accurate records * Attending and contributing to regular project progress meetings * Visiting sites and liaising with main contractor QS / site team The Person: * Possess good knowledge of the Construction Industry and excellent commercial awareness, strong business acumen and effective negotiation skills * Project programming and delay management. Familiarity with Asta Powerproject would be useful but not essential * HNC/Degree in Quantity Surveying preferred * 5+ years post-qualification experience in contracting/QS work preferred * Highly motivated and self-disciplined, able to manage own time, prioritise requirements and multi-task, with good organisational skills * Good financial and numeracy management skills * The ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily * Customer focus, both externally and internally * IT skills * Negotiation skills * Results Focus * Teamwork/Collaboration * Listening & Communication * Initiative & Risk Taking * Networking
