Full time Construction

Job Description

A leading specialist in Construction is currently seeking a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to join an expanding team in the North of England. This is a pivotal role for a professional who thrives on variety, balancing a strategic presence at the Leeds head office with high-impact, "boots on the ground" support across a diverse range of project sites.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative environment where safety is viewed as a cornerstone of operational excellence. This role is ideal for an individual who prefers a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to safety over a purely administrative one.

The Remit

Reporting to the Principal Health & Safety Manager, the Advisor will act as a key point of contact for site teams, ensuring that safety standards are not just met, but exceeded. Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving Culture: Promoting a positive, "safety-first" mindset across M&E projects, maintenance, and facilities management operations.

  • Site Assurance: Conducting regular site audits and inspections, producing high-quality reports that offer actionable insights.

  • Technical Review: Evaluating health and safety documentation, including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), to ensure compliance and practical application.

  • Engagement: Delivering engaging safety briefings and toolbox talks to a varied workforce.

  • Incident Management: Supporting incident investigations and maintaining professional liaison with clients and principal contractors.

The Ideal Profile

The company is looking for a confident, approachable professional who can work independently and build strong working relationships at all levels.

  • Qualifications: A NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate is essential.

  • Experience: Previous experience within the construction industry is required, with a preference for those with an M&E background.

  • Mindset: A supportive, "solutions-focused" attitude. The Advisor should be able to provide practical assistance to real-life site challenges.

  • Backgrounds: Applications from Armed Forces leavers with relevant transferable skills and a commitment to health and safety are highly encouraged.

  • Logistics: A full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across the Northern region are required.

Rewards & Benefits

This organization prides itself on supporting its people, offering a comprehensive package designed to promote a healthy work-life balance:

  • Financial: Competitive salary plus a 7,000 car allowance and an enhanced pension scheme.

  • Time Off: An industry-leading 35 days annual leave (including bank holidays).

  • Wellbeing: Access to an onsite gym, Cycle to Work scheme, and contractual sick pay.

  • Family Support: Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.

  • Flexibility: Flexible working options are available to ensure work fits around life.
