We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP) for one of our clients, a leading UK construction and facilities management business delivering major public-sector projects. They require a commercially strong QS to take ownership of the MEP commercial function on a large-scale healthcare development in the South West.
In this role, you will manage the full commercial and financial lifecycle of a complex MEP package, ensuring delivery is efficient, profitable, and compliant with all contractual and governance requirements. Working closely with project, operational, and client teams, you will oversee applications, valuations, subcontractor management, forecasting, and change control to maintain robust commercial performance throughout delivery.
Strong supply chain and client relationship management will be central to the role, ensuring smooth delivery, transparent communication, and high-quality documentation. You will support monthly reporting processes, lead CVRs, and contribute to wider commercial planning and business development activities when required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial management of a major MEP package on a flagship healthcare project
Prepare and manage applications, valuations, cash flow forecasts and cost reports
Administer contracts, variations, and change control across main contracts and subcontracts
Price, negotiate and secure agreement on variations and loss-and-expense claims
Monitor commercial performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
Manage subcontractor procurement, tender reviews, orders, payments and account close-out
Maintain accurate subcontractor accounts, assess claims and manage prolongation or L&E
Produce monthly CVRs, forecasts, budget reviews and consolidated commercial reporting
Support tendering, sales, operations and finance with commercial analysis and documentation
Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
Ensure compliance with governance, quality and contractual standards
Provide commercial support and mentorship to junior members of the commercial team
Maintain high-quality project documentation and support audits/inspections as needed
Requirements
Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline
Proven experience in MEP Quantity Surveying, ideally on complex, high-value projects
Strong knowledge of contract administration and variation management
Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with digital commercial tools advantageous
Ability to work autonomously, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
Strong commercial acumen with a proactive, methodical approach
Full UK driving licence
