Electrical Design Engineer

We are working with a growing building services and architectural design consultancy delivering technically robust solutions across commercial, residential and specialist environments.

They are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in Fire Systems to join their Chichester based design team.

This role sits at the heart of a multidisciplinary studio, contributing to coordinated mechanical, electrical and architectural design from concept through to delivery.

The position will suit an Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys technical ownership, collaboration and producing compliant, well considered designs within a building services environment, with particular strength in fire alarm and life safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical building services design across a range of projects, with a clear focus on fire alarm and life safety systems.
• Produce detailed electrical and fire system designs from concept through to construction stage.
• Prepare calculations, specifications and drawings in line with current standards and regulations.
• Coordinate designs with mechanical and architectural colleagues to ensure fully integrated solutions.
• Attend design team meetings and liaise with clients, contractors and approving authorities as required.
• Support technical compliance with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and fire safety guidance.
• Contribute to project delivery by managing your own workload and meeting agreed deadlines.

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within building services.
• Strong background in fire alarm and life safety system design.
• Understanding of wider electrical building services systems including power, lighting and containment.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary design environment alongside mechanical and architectural teams.
• Good working knowledge of UK building regulations, fire safety standards and design best practice.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Comfortable working across multiple projects and taking ownership of design output.
• Relevant electrical or building services qualification preferred.
