Job Description

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction business delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across the North East and Yorkshire. This role offers exposure to projects from early procurement through to final account, working closely with operational and senior leadership teams.

You will be responsible for ensuring robust commercial control, driving value, managing risk, and supporting the successful financial delivery of projects.

Projects cover Commercial, Residential, Leisure, Education, Healthcare, Industrial and Civils, with values between 10M - 30M.



Key Responsibilities

  • Full commercial management of construction projects from pre-contract through to final account

  • Preparation and submission of monthly valuations, cost reports, forecasts, and cashflows

  • Procurement and commercial management of subcontractors and supply chain

  • Assessment and agreement of variations, compensation events, and change control

  • Contract administration under JCT and NEC forms of contract

  • Supporting value engineering and cost-saving initiatives

  • Assisting with dispute avoidance and commercial risk mitigation

  • Working collaboratively with Project Managers and Site Managers to maintain programme and cost certainty



About You

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

  • Proven experience working as a QS within a main contractor or specialist contractor environment

  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge

  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment

  • RICS accreditation or working towards (desirable but not essential)
