Job Title: Shuttering Joiner/Carpenter (with National Grid Person) Location: Pembroke 400kV Substation, Pembroke, UK Project: Pembroke Extension Contract Type: Temporary Start Date: 09/03/2026 End Date: 28/08/2026 Hours: 45 per week (07:30 - 17:30) Rate: 30.00 per hour (Umbrella) The Role: We are currently seeking an experienced Civils Operative (Shuttering Joiner / Carpenter) to support works at Pembroke 400kV Substation as part of a major extension project. This is a full-time temporary position to provide additional capacity within the Energy division, working on a live infrastructure environment. Key Responsibilities: Fabrication and installation of formwork Placing and finishing concrete Working accurately to Temporary Works Designs Assisting steel fixers with installation of rebar Constructing signage frames and ad hoc timber items as required Supporting reinforcement installation where required Maintaining strict adherence to site health & safety procedures Essential Requirements: Proven experience in formwork and shuttering carpentry NVQ (or equivalent) in Formwork/Carpentry National Grid Person ticket (mandatory) Manual Handling certificate Experience working to Temporary Works Designs Full PPE (must be in place before attending site) Desirable (Not Essential): Slinger/Signaller Banksman 3 Day First Aid Additional Information: 45 hours per week 07:30 - 17:30 working day Umbrella payment only IR35 pre-assessment completed If you are a qualified Civils Operative with National Grid authorisation and relevant formwork experience, we want to hear from you. This role has been created due to increased project demand and will involve working as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering civil and structural elements within a high-voltage infrastructure environment. Key Responsibilities: Interpret technical drawings and site instructions to ensure accurate installation of shuttering and formwork. Construct and install shuttering systems to required specifications and tolerances. Inspect completed works and carry out adjustments to maintain high-quality standards. Work collaboratively with site managers and other trades to deliver project milestones. Adapt to site challenges and resolve issues efficiently as they arise. Follow and support temporary works procedures and site safety requirements at all times. Essential Requirements: Proven experience working as a Shuttering Carpenter / Joiner on infrastructure or heavy civil projects. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Strong understanding of temporary works processes. Experience working safely within regulated or high-risk environments. Valid site tickets/qualifications relevant to the role. Must have full PPE available prior to site attendance. Additional Information: Working within a live utility environment where safety and quality standards are critical. My client is looking for two shuttering joiners for a long term project in Wishaw to do hanging bolts and general shuttering works.
