Job Description

My client is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join a growing multidisciplinary consultancy team based in Milton Keynes. The role will primarily cover Central and North London, along with surrounding areas local to Milton Keynes.

This is a busy and varied position offering exposure to a broad range of projects, with a strong focus on insurance-related work, particularly across residential buildings of all construction types. The role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor to demonstrate strong technical expertise, leadership capability and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service.



The Role

The successful Senior Building Surveyor will support the wider surveying team while managing their own projects and client instructions. Responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting and advising on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of a wide range of buildings

  • Undertaking acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations

  • Preparing technical reports, schedules of works and detailed specifications

  • Designing and overseeing works using recognised building contracts and current technical standards

  • Independently delivering large-value projects across professional consultancy services

  • Applying relevant legislation including health and safety, party wall matters, building regulations and planning

  • Playing an active role in promoting services and supporting business development

  • Supervising and mentoring junior surveyors and supporting their professional development

  • Ensuring compliance with internal procedures and health and safety requirements at all times

The Person

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience within building surveying or related consultancy environments

  • Strong technical knowledge supported by awareness of current statutory requirements and guidance

  • Proven experience in defect diagnosis and technical report writing

  • Insurance repair project experience, ideally within residential property

  • Experience in leadership, supervision and negotiation

  • Ability to manage large-scale projects to deadlines and within budget

  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, Party Wall matters and Building Regulations

  • Strong analytical, mathematical and IT skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
