Job Description

Whitebox Construction Management was formed in 2021 with a distinctive vision, born out of a desire to redefine industry norms and elevate the standards of project execution. We recognised the need for a paradigm shift in the construction sector, and our foundation is rooted in a commitment to doing things differently. Embracing a collaborative approach, we believe that collective expertise yields superior results, fostering a culture of shared innovation and continuous improvement.

As a B-Corp, sustainability is at the heart of our mission, as we acknowledge the profound impact construction has on the environment. By integrating sustainable practices into every facet of our operations, from design to execution, we aim to minimise our ecological footprint and contribute to a greener, more resilient future.

Whitebox is dedicated to achieving service excellence by seamlessly integrating sustainable practices into our operations. We are committed to unlocking value for our clients and stakeholders through environmentally responsible practices. By prioritising sustainability, we aim to create lasting positive impacts on the environment, society, and our clients' bottom lines.

We're looking for people who share our commitment to building a better world through sustainable and responsible construction management. As part of the B-Corp community, we believe in the power of business to drive positive change, and we strive to lead by example in the construction industry. Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond compliance; it is ingrained in our values, practices, and every project we undertake.

The Quantity Surveyor is a vital member of the Whitebox team, reporting to the Whitebox Commercial Lead and Whitebox Construction Director. You will take full ownership of the commercial side of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Your responsibilities will include preparing accurate cost plans, managing procurement, monitoring project budgets, overseeing contracts, undertaking trade partner valuations and manging changes. You will work closely with site teams, designers, consultants, and trade partners to identify risks, control costs, and maximise value for clients.

In addition to managing costs, you will play a proactive role in problem-solving, advising on commercial decisions, and contributing to the planning and delivery of projects. Your work will directly support Whitebox's commitment to sustainable construction, helping embed environmentally responsible solutions into every project.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who thrives on hands on site based commercial management, enjoys collaborating across teams, and is passionate about delivering high quality, sustainable construction projects.

We're looking for a hands on, commercially savvy Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a dynamic construction environment. You take ownership of projects, managing budgets, costs, and contracts from start to finish, and aren't afraid to provide proactive commercial advice.

You enjoy working collaboratively with site teams, designers, consultants, and trade partners to identify risks, control costs, and deliver maximum value for clients. Problem solving comes naturally to you, and you're motivated to find practical solutions that keep projects running smoothly, on time, and within budget.

Quality and sustainability are important to you, and you take pride in delivering projects that meet high standards while supporting Whitebox's commitment to environmentally responsible construction. Above all, you're self motivated, responsible, and passionate about making a real impact on the projects you work on.

You will initially be based in Plymouth, working on the Foulston Park project. This will give you the opportunity to be fully immersed in the site, working closely with the project team, trade partners, and consultants to manage costs, monitor progress, and ensure the project is delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget. While your primary base will be Plymouth, the role may also involve travel to other sites and client offices across the South West and occasionally nationally as required.

Working at Whitebox means being part of a team that actually cares about doing things differently. It's not just about ticking boxes or getting things built; it's about working together, solving problems, and making projects better than expected. Everyone's input matters, whether you're on site, in the office, or working with clients and trade partners.

The company really takes sustainability seriously, so you'll feel like your work is making a real difference; not just for clients, but for communities and the environment too. There's a strong sense of teamwork and support here; people help each other out, share knowledge, and celebrate wins together.

If you like getting stuck into projects, seeing the results of your work, and being part of a team that values collaboration and doing things the right way, Whitebox is a place where you'll feel at home.
