This role plays a key part in transforming design intent into accurate, manufacturable technical drawings, working closely with project teams and workshop colleagues to ensure each item is produced to exacting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed joinery designs and technical construction drawings for client approval, manufacture and installation.

  • Translate design briefs and intent drawings into accurate, high-quality technical solutions suitable for fabrication.

  • Collaborate with project management and workshop teams to ensure drawings reflect design intent and practical manufacturing requirements.

  • Research and integrate third-party items such as appliances and ironmongery, ensuring seamless technical coordination.

  • Produce drawings with the appropriate level of detail at approval, manufacture and installation stages, including bills of materials and purchase schedules.

  • Manage drawing tracking, revisions and document control throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Liaise with external design teams to coordinate design intent and technical expectations.

  • Attend design meetings both on and off site as required.

  • Use Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling (SolidWorks or similar experience also considered if willing to convert skills).

Requirements
  • Experience working as a joinery draughtsman or within a similar technical design role.

  • Strong background in producing workshop drawings for high-end bespoke joinery and furniture.

  • Excellent understanding of joinery construction, fabrication processes and finishing techniques.

  • Confident working with a wide variety of materials including timber, boards, veneers, laminates, glass, metals and architectural hardware.

  • Strong problem-solving ability with the capability to resolve technical detailing between mixed materials.

  • Good knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques, materials and production technologies.

  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks/other 3D CAD software with willingness to transition).

  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and communication abilities.

  • Highly motivated and able to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
