Senior Quantity Surveyor Vacancy

Region: London
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: Up to £90,000 per annum plus car allowance (dependent on experience)

The Role

This position involves full commercial management of projects from tender stage through to final account. Responsibilities include budget preparation, cost estimates, progress reporting, final account settlement, client liaison, and participation in design team and site meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the Surveying Director, Project Director, and Project Manager

  • Working closely with the Design Team to ensure all requirements and specifications are achieved

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with client representatives to support project delivery and foster positive working relationships

  • Attending regular site meetings and providing clear updates on project progress, risks, and issues

  • Reviewing tender enquiries and undertaking detailed tender analysis

  • Preparing estimates and tenders in collaboration with head office quantity surveying teams

  • Negotiating new projects and fixed-price agreements to ensure cost-effective outcomes

  • Organising and chairing pre-award meetings with new subcontractors alongside the construction team

  • Procuring subcontract packages and monitoring performance on site

  • Managing contra charges and issuing notifications to subcontractors

  • Carrying out subcontractor re-measurements and managing interim and final account payments

  • Processing fortnightly and monthly subcontractor payment certificates

  • Maintaining variation logs and agreeing variations with junior surveying staff

  • Issuing interim payment applications and reconciling payments received

  • Preparing and agreeing final accounts at project completion

  • Monitoring costs and producing reports using construction management software

  • Attending monthly cost review meetings and preparing cashflow forecasts

  • Issuing monthly financial reports to the accounts team

  • Staying informed of industry developments and market conditions

  • Undertaking additional duties and projects as required

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience with a strong track record managing subcontractors and clients across valuations, variations, final accounts, and cost reporting

  • Excellent understanding of specifications, bills of quantities, and construction drawings

  • Proven ability to extract quantities from drawings and issue accurate enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers within tight deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-standard quantity surveying software

  • Experience working on commercial and residential projects

  • Strong budget management and cost control experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce and explain clear, accurate reports

  • Highly organised with strong time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Self-motivated and able to plan workloads with minimal supervision

  • Flexible, committed, and results-driven

  • A strong team player able to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
