Full time Construction Site Manager Skilled Trades & Labour

Job Description

Site Manager - Refurbishment A gateway into Heritage work
Grade I Listed Central London 3.5m Live Site

This company operates almost exclusively in the heritage and conservation world - royal estates, historic buildings and places where reputation matters more than marketing.

This role isn't quite that end of the spectrum yet.
But it's how people get there.

The current project is a 3.5m refurbishment of a Georgian Grade I listed building in central London. Brick fa ade and principal listed rooms to the front, with extensive strip-out, remodelling and conversion of rear areas and basements into high-quality office space.

We're looking for a technically sound Site Manager, likely from a refurb, fit-out or complex commercial background. You don't need heritage experience - but you do need to be interested in working more carefully, more thoughtfully, and with fewer theatrics.

You'll:
Work alongside an experienced Site Manager
Sometimes have a chaperone, sometimes run the site independently
Manage trades, sequencing, logistics and H&S
Be trusted to behave appropriately in a sensitive, live environment

This is a starter site into the heritage world - a chance to learn how historic buildings are handled properly, without being thrown in at the deep end.

The kind of person this suits
A few years' experience as a Site Manager, but skin in the game
Strong technical knowledge and the ability to actually run a site
Calm, credible and presentable
A good communicator - someone who explains rather than shouts
Comfortable dealing with clients, consultants and subcontractors
Knows when to ask questions, and when to say very little at all
More measured professional than site hardman

This company values:
Judgement over speed
Communication over noise
Care over ego

If your background is refurb rather than volume housing,
And you're curious about working on buildings with longer memories and higher expectations, this could be the project that brings you into a very different part of the industry.

Please get in touch for a discreet conversation about conservation
