Site Manager Plotworks Civil Engineering Contractor Sunderland Full Time, Permanent £50k - £60k base + package About The Company They are a respected civil engineering contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure and groundworks solutions across the region. With a strong pipeline of residential and commercial projects, they are expanding their team and looking for an experienced Plotworks Site Manager to oversee day-to-day operations on busy housing development sites. The Role As Plotworks Site Manager, you will take ownership of all plot-based activities, ensuring that groundworks, drainage, foundations, externals, and associated civil engineering tasks are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification. You will coordinate directly with site teams, subcontractors, clients, and the project manager to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. Groundworks Site Manager/Foreman Location: Portsmouth Start Date: ASAP Duration: 3 years (temp to perm for right person Pay Rate: 300 p/day We are on the lookout for a Groundworks Site Manager/Foreman for a long-term project at an MOD site in Portsmouth. This is a temp opportunity that could lead to perm for the right person. Working for a Civil Engineering company based in the midlands that specialise within commercial contracts. The contractor has secured the full groundworks and civils package on an MOD site with the project spanning for 3 years. Due to the nature of the works, all applicants must be able to pass BPSS and DBS security checks before starting. Site Manager Responsibilities: Manage daily site operations and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification Coordinate subcontractors, operatives, plant, and materials Quantify materials from drawings and raise requisitions Interpret drawings and specifications to guide site delivery Raise and track RFIs, EWNs, and internal CE paperwork Oversee all groundworks activities including excavation, drainage, concrete works, foundations, and roads, ensuring full QA compliance Maintain daily records and progress updates Lead on site safety including toolbox talks, inductions, and briefings Liaise with clients, engineers, and senior management Manage logistics, deliveries, materials handling, and waste Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and QA documentation Desirable Experience & Qualifications : Background in commercial or infrastructure groundworks Civil engineering qualification NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management (or equivalent) SMSTS required Site Foreman Responsibilities: Ensure operatives work safely and efficiently Manage plant, materials, and resources in line with programme Supervise works independently or alongside the wider management team Oversee excavation around buried services Drive performance in quality, safety, and productivity Interpret programmes and convert into daily work planning Strong knowledge of all groundworks disciplines (drainage, foundations, externals, etc.)
