Senior Drainage Engineer Location: Manchester Please Note: We're supporting our clients as they adapt to the unprecedented circumstances brought about by COVID-19. As a result, we're currently only recruiting for essential roles during this time. All interviews, assessments and background checks will take place online, to completely remove the need for face-to-face contact. It's important to note that most of our sites are now closed and employees are working remotely where they can. Summary We are looking for a Senior Engineer (Drainage) with a strong infrastructure background who can demonstrate experience in designing drainage and highways, whilst further infrastructure experience may be advantageous. The vacancy is for a core member of a team of over 40 highway Engineers based with the infrastructure team based in our Manchester office. This is to address our current and forward workload opportunities in the drainage field, we are looking to expand our drainage resource levels in Manchester, by recruiting an experienced Senior Engineer. Responsibilities Develop drainage solutions for highway, infrastructure and site development schemes for feasibility, planning, tender, and detailed design stages of the project. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microdrainage and Causeway Flow drainage design software. Design of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) with good knowledge of relevant current standards and guidelines. Experience and Qualifications Essential At least 3 years relevant post degree graduate experience or 5 years experience post HNC/HND. Thorough understanding of drainage design principles including foul, surface water and SuDS. Knowledge and understanding of the SAB process. Be adept with one of MicroDrainage, Civil 3D or PDS, and be well-versed in the preparation of notes and specifications sufficient for technical approvals and construction, ideally with experience of Section 38/278 highway schemes and Section 104/106 drainage schemes. Producing infrastructure design calculations, drawings & specifications. Proficient with MicroDrainage and/or Civil 3D. Strong working knowledge of Section 38 and 278, for highways. Strong working knowledge of Section 104 and 106 for drainage. Have excellent communication skills both written & verbal. Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, Codes of Practice and Health & Safety regulations. MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Ideally Chartered (or working towards) with the ICE. Desirable Incorporated Engineer professional qualification (IEng) or someone working towards professional qualifications IEng or CEng. Clean driving licence. We are expanding our rail systems capability, building on our “best in class” reputation. We have a number of well-established Rail Systems Design Centres throughout the UK, and the teams in those centres are delivering a wide variety of complex and technically challenging projects around the country and overseas. We work directly with Network Rail and organisations such as TfL and TfGM, with contractors, TOCs, developers of rail freight facilities and other organisations engaged in the implementation of rail projects. They now have an immediate requirement for an Experienced Consents Manager to join them in the North West offices, however a Midlands base location will be considered.
