About the opportunity Our client is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor for a Concrete Frame and Groundwork subcontractor based in West London. This role will involve the usual commercial management duties of reinforced concrete (RC) frame packages and associated groundworks. The successful professional will report to the company’s commercial director and will be responsible for a group of projects (3-6) in and around London. Individual package values will range from £1 million up to £10 million each. Starting out as a Plant Hire contractor, they then moved into small groundworks packages and had a turnover of around £30m before moving heavily into concrete structures back in 2003. Since then they have established themselves as one of the strongest sub contractors in the South East able to deliver the all in one package for their clients, using all their own plant, and having the knowledge and experience to deliver all the demolition, groundworks and frame effectively. Current turnover is £80m, 70% of this is now structures. They have immediate opportunities throughout the South East for a Quantity Surveyors to help manage a large portfolio of works for a well known client. You will work on a variety of Civil Engineering projects but mainly highways and associated infrastructure works and concrete packages ranging from £1m to £10m. You will be responsible for subcontract procurement, payments, variations, valuations and forecasts, cost and value reconciliation, cost reporting and handling claims and must have worked using the NEC type contract. You are likely to have obtained a minimum of an HNC in Quantity Surveying and may have little experience or lots of experience in a Quantity Surveying role or perhaps you haven’t been to university but have gained all of your knowledge by experience. They currently complete packages ranging in value up to £60m each on a mixture of residential, commercial, educational and leisure projects throughout the London area and further around the UK. This business prides themselves on their high repeat business rate and their in-house capability to take complex projects from design through to completion. They are family owned and still maintain the family feel they have had over the last 10+ years I have known them, which is important, because not all do as they grow. About the Role: I am looking for a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor for a Concrete Frame and Groundwork subcontractor based in the South East. This role will involve the usual commercial management duties (i.e. taking projects from start to final account making sure budgets are maintained and profit levels are maximised while reporting any necessary changes) on reinforced concrete (RC) frame packages and associated groundwork & foundation packages. If successful you will report to the company’s commercial director and will be responsible for either one large package (i.e. RC frame & groundwork value around £20 million or above) or a group of projects (usually around 3 to 5 at any one time) in or around London. Individual package values could range from £5 million (smallest) up to £60 million each. About the Requirements: The requirements for this role are fairly straight forward; We can only consider individuals who have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for either Groundwork or Concrete Frame subcontractors in the UK. Our client only wants to consider individuals from a rival company background. And due to the technical nature of this role, it is also crucial that all applicants are degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management. About the Salary / Rewards: For the right person our client is looking to offer a market leading package including a strong salary or rate with added benefits. If PAYE paid you can expect a basic salary ranging from £70,000 to £100,000 depending on your experience, plus a car allowance, full benefits and a targeted project related bonus.
