Design Manager required to work for Principal Contractor JV on High Speed Rail Major Tunnels Programme. Contract initially up to end of Oct 2026 - Inside IR35 Old Oak Common/North Acton - Hybrid Working Arrangements Skillset: Design Management, Fitout, Engineering, Construction. Role Brief: This Design Manager will manage the Stage 5 asset design and be responsible for leading and coordinating all design and disciplines associated with a particular asset, facilitate the delivery of the designs, ensuring the design is technically assured, delivered to programme and coordinated between design disciplines. Candidates for the role must have a proven experience of large-scale civil engineering projects. Your previous/background experience will likely have been within Design and Engineering Project Management. You will have a good knowledge of construction techniques and processes across shafts and head house structures, above and below ground with a focus on shaft fit-out and architectural design, with an appreciation of both temporary and permanent MEP as well as rail systems activities. Main Responsibilities -Leading on all things design for their particular asset, liaising with the Stage 4 close out team and assisting elsewhere when required. -Management for their asset of all Design activities related to the shaft fit out incl. blockwork, fire-proofing, steelwork, doors, hatches, drainage, etc. and architectural design of the shafts and headhouses incl. misc. steel works, façade/cladding, roofing systems. You will also be involved with the integration of MEP systems. -Liaison with design consultant, MEP team, Design Integrator, Engineering team, Construction team, QA team, Commercial team, Planning team and Cost control to provide relevant design input as required. -Review Technical Queries (TQs)/RFIs, FCDs and NCRs as required, as well as Material Compliance Records (MCRs). -Management of Design integration and change control during construction. -Promote best practice in safety management through application of risk assessment, and ensuring CDM 2015 regulations are considered in the design and challenging the designer when required. Experience Required: -Educated to degree level or higher (preferably BEng or higher (MEng, MSc) and hold a relevant professional qualification. -Experience in project-based design and management across all project stages. -Good knowledge of construction of shafts and headhouses with focus on fit-out and architectural elements, along with MEP interfaces. -Experience of large complex projects where involvement with multi-discipline integration was required. -Good understanding of the NEC contract and have experience in its application. -Have an appreciation of BIM and the 3D environment, and have an understanding of digital engineering in design, construction and handover phases. -Thorough understanding of managing design related project risks. -Thorough understanding and application of the CDM Regulations 2015. -Strong understanding of Engineering Principles and extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices

Purpose of BIM Manager Role: The role holder will oversee the Project Wide BIM delivery (across disciplines) and seek input from the BIM coordinators who look after BIM models of individual disciplines which involves working closely with external parties. The role holder will be responsible for the Architectural and Engineering models and ensuring that they are exchanged on a fortnightly basis for co-ordination with key stakeholders. The data/model exchange, clash detection and workflow processes are required to be recorded in an auditable manner and/or monitored for compliance against the BEP. BIM Manager – , Main Contractor, hospital construction, Buckinghamshire Our client is a specialist international contractor undertaking hospital and healthcare new build schemes across The Middle East, Asia and Africa This organisation has been operating for over 50 years and is one the leading global hospital specialists Following a period of successful tendering our client has been appointed as the main contractor for the construction of three new hospitals in Oman Our client is now seeking a BIM Manager to join the team, based from their head office in Buckinghamshire, to assist in the construction of these projects Purpose of the Role: The role holder will oversee the Project Wide BIM delivery (across disciplines) and seek input from the BIM coordinators who look after BIM models of individual disciplines which involves working closely with external parties. The role holder will be responsible for the Architectural and Engineering models and ensuring that they are exchanged on a fortnightly basis for co-ordination with key stakeholders. The data/model exchange, clash detection and workflow processes are required to be recorded in an auditable manner and/or monitored for compliance against the BEP. To be successful in this role the role holder will need to ensure the maximum benefits of data exchange (e.g. early clash detection, up-to-date information flow etc). Specific Duties: * Support the implementation of the Project BIM protocol. * Liaise with and co-operate with Project Team Members in support of a collaborative working culture. * Co-ordinate the whole design and modelling process by managing designers and lead with the clients engineer * Manage three federated 3D models, one for each hospital; Structural, MEP and Architectural. * Define and agree procedures for convening, chairing, attendance and responsibility for recording “information exchange process meetings”. * Attend project and design team meetings as required. * Co-ordinate and assess the 3D models for clashes by the design team and document effectively. * Establish a Common Data Environment (BIM 360) including processes and procedures to enable reliable information exchange between Project Team Members, the Employer and other parties. * Establish, agree and implement the information structure for the Information Model. * Receive Information Model data from each BIM co-ordinator and validate compliance against BEP and advise on non-compliance. * Agree and implement record keeping, archiving and audit trail for Information Model * Carrying out Clash detection and Produce Clash reports. * Report BIM Model progress to Client on a fortnightly basis. * Manage weekly Clash Detection Reports * Manage fortnightly BIM Model Progress Reports * Initiate, agree and implement the Project Information Plan and Asset Information Plan * Monitor day to day design aspects of the project/works section. * Work closely with site team to ensure that models are current and correct for use on site. * Uncompromising approach to ensure safety standards and targets are met and maintained. * Promote a working environment that allows all team members to work to the best of their abilities. * Utilise design resources effectively.
