A Graduate Structural Engineer is required to join this small structural design practice based near Southend. The Company Directors are Chartered (MICE and MIStructE) so can offer excellent training in this regard. The firm work on a variety of challenging and complex residential and commercial projects, from designing blocks of flats to industrial units, retaining walls for highways and one off bespoke projects involving the use of straw bales and oak frames. Projects can go up to £1-3m in value. You will gain exposure to all aspects of projects and be provided with the tools to develop into an excellent all round structural engineer with a real handle on how a structural design business works. You will be given hands on support and training from the Directors to develop and progress your career. The practice has further growth plans for the future and you will become a key member of the design team.
You should ideally have a 2.1 or 1st class degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a reputable University and a desire to join a small business where you will play an important part, rather than be a tiny cog in a large wheel. Opportunity for fast track promotion and progression will be real here, with client exposure (well supervised!) early in your career. Experience working in a design consultancy would be preferred, but excellent recent graduates without experience will happily be considered. Ideally you will already be living in Essex within sensible commuting distance, but graduates looking to relocate to this area will also be considered.
The company will offer you basic salary, flexible working hours, pension scheme and paid annual leave. A car driver is preferred but they are also within walking distance from the mainline station.
