Operations Manager Infrastructure Testing

£60,000 £80,000 + Company Tesla + Bonus

The Business

A £40m construction materials testing organisation supporting major UK infrastructure and aviation projects. Part of a large testing & inspection group, working with multi-million and billion-pound clients. The company is scaling quickly and investing heavily in operational and commercial performance.

The Role

You ll lead national operations across a multi-site testing and investigation business, ensuring technicians, equipment and schedules run efficiently while reacting rapidly to urgent or emergency call-outs. You will work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in shaping how the operation evolves in the coming years.

This role also works closely with major infrastructure projects, so experience coordinating operational delivery within project environments is highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop dispersed operational teams across the UK

  • Ensure technicians have the right kit, vehicles, training and job allocations

  • Work with Planning to manage scheduling and urgent/emergency jobs

  • Deliver performance across quality, turnaround, utilisation, revenue and profit

  • Build strong relationships with major infrastructure clients

  • Drive commercial efficiency and support long-term margin improvement

  • Regular national travel with overnight stays (home at weekends)

About You

  • Strong people-leadership experience in fast-paced operational environments

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a commercial civilian role (private equity exposure ideal)

  • Proven ability to manage multi-site operations and time-critical workloads

  • Commercially minded, proactive and confident driving operational performance

  • Able to engage with senior clients across complex infrastructure projects

  • Ambitious, with the capability to take on greater responsibility as the business grows

Desirable

  • Ex-Military leadership, logistics, engineering or operations background

  • Experience managing operational delivery within major projects or infrastructure programmes

  • Experience working in a regulated, standards-driven or safety-critical environment

  • Construction, materials testing or civil engineering exposure
