Job Title: Electrical Technician

Location: Newton Aycliffe
Contract: Full-time

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician to join our facilities management team in Newton Aycliffe. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and associated equipment, ensuring that faults are swiftly resolved and operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to breakdown maintenance requests within required SLAs
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and equipment
  • Conduct testing and inspection to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards
  • Carry out thermographic surveys to identify potential issues
  • Assist with troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC systems
  • Provide emergency response, standby, and call-out support
  • Escalate urgent issues to the Technical Services Manager
  • Manage work interruptions, outages, and emergencies in line with SLAs
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and records
  • Advise the Facilities Management Team on changes related to critical environments
  • Work flexibly, including hours beyond contractual requirements when needed
  • Undertake site surveys and develop Works Requests, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments
  • Perform upgrade and installation work
  • Interpret technical drawings, instructions, processes, and O&M documentation
  • Complete all reactive Helpdesk requests within required timeframes
  • Monitor environmental conditions and assess equipment loading/working status
  • Identify root causes of issues and recommend corrective and preventative actions
  • Submit findings to the Technical Services Manager, ensuring full documentation and follow-through

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations

Desirable

  • Experience working with building management systems (including fault finding and operator use)
  • Experience in testing and inspecting electrical systems
  • Understanding of HVAC systems
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills at all levels
  • Evidence of excellent customer service delivery
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and determine material requirements
  • Understanding of Health & Safety procedures (COSHH, Working at Heights, Risk Assessment, etc.)
  • Health & Safety qualifications such as IOSH and/or NEBOSH
  • Experience with emergency response, standby, and call-out protocols
  • Knowledge of utilities monitoring and environmental programmes
  • Experience as an Authorised Person (e.g., AP15/12)
  • Water hygiene L8 knowledge
