My client are a regional civil engineering business. They are looking to onboard a health and safety manager to help oversee the delivery of a new contract in North Wales. My client operate across the transport, renewable, coastal and infrastructure sectors.
H&S manager responsibilities:
- Ensure the project complies with all relevant health & safety legislation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry standards.
- Prepare and manage site H&S documentation: Safety Plans, RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), permit-to-work systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards.
- Review and approve contractor risk assessments and method statements.
- Coordinate H&S training for workers (induction, toolbox talks, task-specific competency).
- Ensure subcontractors meet H&S requirements and enforce compliance.
- Develop and maintain site emergency response plans.
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs.
- Maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
H&S manager requirements:
- Right to work in the UK.
- CSCS card.
- NEBOSH ticket holder.
- Previous experience in a H&S managers role (5 years plus).
- IT literate.
- Proficient in creating RAMS, site safety plans, audits, and incident investigations.
- Understanding of relevant laws (OSHA, CDM, local regulations), risk management, and industry best practices.
- Full UK driving licence.
