Permanent opportunity for a Graduate PQS at Liverpool based construction consultancy Your new company You will be working for a UK-based construction and property consultancy known for its comprehensive project and cost management services. Preparing and presenting order of cost estimatesAdvising on procurement strategiesCost-in-use studiesPreparation of tender documents (based on schedule of works, bills of quantities and employer's requirements) and managing the tender processInput into value engineeringPreparation of tender reportsCompilation of contract documentsAssessment and agreement of interim valuationsMaking cost checks and preparation of financial reportsDealing effectively with post-contract cost variances and the change control processesNegotiation and agreement of final accountsInterfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stagesManaging workload and resources, ensuring quality and timeliness of service delivery to clients What you'll need to succeed You will have a B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying-ideally you will have 1-2 years' experience working as an Assistant QS, however graduates straight from university may be considered.You will have a full driving licence. You will be open and flexible to travel. Although the office is based in Liverpool, many projects are located across the UK and Ireland. Senior Consultant (Delay Analysis) London, UK £80,000 to £100,000 basic salary plus bonus, pension, benefits Our client is a consultancy firm specialising in expert witness and dispute resolution services to the construction and engineering industries. This long established organisation focuses on providing a range of high level services to a broad range of construction and engineering clients which include law firms, employers, contractors, governments, insurers and banks In London the business employs a range of both Experts and consultants focused on Delay and Disruption and Time related disputes. Having had a very busy year the team are stretched because of a high continued high workload. They therefore are seeking to employ a new member of this team, someone ideally from a Planning, construction management, engineering or project management background, who has experience of either managing or defending EOT or delay related claims, experience of supporting expert witnesses or exposure to this type of work within either another consultancy or a main contractor and have a keen interest in furthering their career within Dispute Resolution and Expert Services Responsibilities * Delivering high quality dispute related advice to contractors, law firms and employers on high value projects and complex planning disputes. * Supporting expert witnesses or providing expert advice and working as a team on a range of Project/Dispute-related EOT/Planning work. * Visiting and assessing clients problems before putting together a claims strategy and defence. * Providing contract advice, particularly in relation to planning/ time, and due diligence of contractor’s programmes, and/or presenting on delay issues. * Litigation support and arbitration work Requirements * Ideally at least part of your experience will have been spent working for a contractor in the building, infrastructure, oil & gas or power sector * Experienced in one or all of delay analysis, dispute resolution/avoidance, claims management, arbitration/litigation support or expert witness work. * Ideally c10 years post qualification experience with at least 5 spent delivering projects on site. * Ideally you will have experience of working on projects valued £25m upwards. * Degree qualified in engineering, construction management or similar ideally with additional legal qualification or a willingness to work toward these * Someone with a forensic mind and good attention to detail. * You should possess excellent written and verbal English language skills * A people person, a team player and someone enthusiastic with the drive and motivation to want to develop and progress their career in Dispute Resolution. * Good knowledge of Planning software including ideally Primavera, ASTA and MS Project All applications treated in strict confidence
