gap construction is proud to be representing a well-established main contractor in their search for a dedicated and ambitious Assistant Site Manager to join their team in central Hertfordshire.

Projects will vary in nature but include high-profile, complex schemes across the commercial, education, industrial, retail, and residential sectors throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and into London.

Performance Objectives

• Support the Site Manager in delivering projects safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
• Assist with the coordination of trades, subcontractors, and site activities.
• Help ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and reporting any concerns.
• Maintain daily site records, progress reports, and relevant documentation.
• Contribute to resolving on-site issues swiftly and effectively.
• Ensure that work is carried out in line with project plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Engage with clients, stakeholders, and the project team to support clear communication and smooth project delivery.
• Assist in monitoring material deliveries, site logistics, and housekeeping to maintain an efficient and safe working environment.

Person Specification

• Experience in a site-based role within the construction industry (Assistant Site Manager, Site Supervisor, or similar).
• A qualification in Construction Management or a related field is desirable but not essential.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a wider site team.
• SMSTS or SSSTS is advantageous.
