Construction Site Agent - Highways & Infrastructure We are looking to recruit an experienced Construction Site Agent to oversee the successful delivery of planned highways and infrastructure schemes. Working as part of a dedicated Construction Team, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Manage and supervise highway and infrastructure schemes, ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental requirements. Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to achieve programme objectives. Liaise with clients, local authorities, designers, utility providers, and other key stakeholders. Ensure construction plans, risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), permits, and safety systems are implemented effectively. Maintain accurate site records, including site diaries, progress reports, and resource allocation records. Support the Scheme Delivery Manager in developing, monitoring, and delivering construction programmes. Coordinate traffic management requirements and identify value engineering opportunities. Monitor costs, productivity, and resources to ensure projects are delivered within budget. Drive a positive health and safety culture across all site activities. Ensure works are completed in line with client specifications and programme requirements. Skills & Experience Proven experience delivering highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects as a Site Agent, Sub Agent, or Senior General Foreman. SMSTS and CSCS certification essential (IOSH desirable). HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred. Full UK Driving Licence. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple workstreams. Good understanding of NEC contracts and project delivery processes. Commercial awareness with the ability to manage resources and control costs effectively. Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Experience with traffic management, drainage, surfacing, structures, or public realm works would be advantageous. Location: M42 / Greater Birmingham Area (On-site) Duration: 9+ Months Freelance Randstad is recruiting a Project Engineer / Senior Engineer on behalf of a tier-one main contractor to support a major highways infrastructure upgrade along the M42 corridor outside Birmingham. This is a long-term freelance assignment focusing on site engineering control, subcontractor management, and technical package delivery across live highways infrastructure. The Role Reporting to the Sub Agent / Site Agent, you will bridge the gap between site engineering and operational delivery, taking ownership of technical QA, temporary works, and subcontractor coordination. Your day-to-day will involve: Engineering Oversight: Managing site engineering teams and survey accuracy across major carriageway, drainage, surfacing, and structural highways packages. Technical QA & Inspections: Overseeing ITP sign-offs, as-built surveys, material approvals, and managing TQs/RFIs to resolve design queries efficiently. Subcontractor & Resource Management: Coordinating daily site activities for specialist supply chain partners, ensuring works align with short-term lookahead schedules. Temporary Works & HSEQ: Managing temporary works implementation on site, ensuring strict adherence to RAMS and National Highways safety standards. Commercial Support: Working alongside the commercial team to maintain precise site records, track variations, and record scope changes. Essential Requirements Highways Track Record (Essential): Extensive, proven experience as a Senior Engineer or Project Engineer on UK highways schemes (National Highways framework experience highly desirable). Technical Qualifications: Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. Site Credentials: Valid CSCS card and SMSTS (Temporary Works Coordinator qualification is a plus). Freelance Site Agent - Water Civils Location: Loughborough Start: ASAP - October 2026 Duration: 6 months Sector: Water / Civils OUTSIDE IR35 We are looking for an experienced Site Agent to join a water infrastructure project in the Loughborough area. The role will involve managing the delivery of a civils and pipeline scheme, including works across highways and within an operational wastewater environment. Responsibilities Day-to-day management of site delivery Planning, programming and resourcing works Managing subcontractors and site teams Producing and briefing RAMS, ITPs and construction documentation Managing HSEQ, quality and programme performance Liaising with the client and wider project team Managing works through to testing, commissioning and handover Requirements Strong Site Agent experience within water / wastewater civils Previous pipeline and infrastructure experience Experience working around live services and operational sites CSCS Black Card SMSTS 3-Day First Aid NRSWA Supervisor An engineering background and additional Temporary Works, Confined Space or lifting qualifications would be advantageous.
