Site Engineer
Yorkshire based predominantly but with some projects further afield

We are working with a leading contractor delivering civil engineering and utilities projects across the UK.
They are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join their team, responsible for accurate surveying, setting out, and monitoring construction works for water, drainage, and utilities schemes.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong civils/engineering background, hands-on experience in topographical surveys, and proficiency in GPS and Total Station equipment.
The Site Engineer will provide technical support on-site, ensuring works are accurately set out, measured, and constructed in line with designs and specifications.
You will work closely with Site Managers and Project Teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to quality standards, and will be responsible for surveying, data recording, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct topographical surveys and produce accurate site measurements.
  • Carry out setting out for pipelines, structures, chambers, and associated utilities works.
  • Operate GPS, Total Station and other surveying equipment to ensure design accuracy.
  • Provide technical support to Site Managers and construction teams.
  • Check design drawings against site conditions and report discrepancies.
  • Record, verify, and report site measurements, ensuring data integrity.
  • Monitor works to ensure compliance with design specifications and standards.
  • Assist with preparing daily reports, progress logs, and as-built information.
  • Support site safety culture and compliance with HSEQ policies.
  • SMSTS qualification is beneficial but not essential.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or utilities projects.
  • Hands-on experience with topographical surveys, setting out, and construction monitoring.
  • Competent in using GPS, Total Station, and associated survey software.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering construction methods and utilities installation.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • CSCS card (essential).
  • SMSTS qualification (desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
