Job Description

Site Engineer - Edinburgh

We are recruiting two experienced Site Engineers to support the delivery of a high-value civil engineering project in Edinburgh. The project is valued at over £10 million and offers excellent long-term career prospects. While the official start date is in November, earlier starts can be accommodated on other projects in the region.

Role Details

  • Working hours: 7:30am - 17:30pm
  • Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)
  • Car allowance: £4,500

Key Responsibilities

  • Site & Setting Out - Conduct surveying, setting out, and ensure construction accuracy using drawings and instruments.
  • Project & Design Management - Interpret construction plans, raise RFIs, and support design resolution.
  • Commercial Awareness - Monitor costs, materials, and contracts to aid efficient delivery.
  • Quality & Safety - Implement quality control, conduct inspections, and champion safe working practices.
  • Team Leadership - Supervise and mentor junior engineers, subcontractors, and site teams.

Person Specification

  • Qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Structural Engineering (HNC or above).
  • Proven experience in setting out and engineering processes.
  • Proficient in CAD software, ideally with EDM/single-person working kit experience.
  • Strong surveying expertise, with the ability to train and mentor others.
  • Experience managing and developing Graduate and Apprentice Engineers.
