Facilities Support Assistant Part-Time (Temporary)

A well-known charity in North York is looking for a practical and reliable Facilities Support Assistant to join their friendly team. Based in a large, inclusive community centre, this role is all about helping the building run smoothly so it remains safe, clean, and welcoming for staff and visitors.
About the Role
You ll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the centre. From setting up rooms for events to carrying out safety checks, your work will help ensure everything is in place for a wide range of community activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and closing the centre
- Keeping public areas and meeting rooms clean and tidy
- Setting up and clearing down rooms and equipment for events
- Managing recycling and identifying minor repairs (e.g. painting, plumbing)
- Maintaining inventory of furniture, fittings, and supplies
- Supporting bookings and setting up IT/audio-visual equipment
- Performing routine safety checks (lighting, fire alarms, building inspections)
- Reporting health and safety concerns
- Occasionally serving behind the bar and covering reception
What We re Looking For
- Experience with basic repairs and maintenance
- Confidence using IT and AV equipment
- Understanding of Health and Safety principles
- Good written, verbal, and numerical skills
- Previous experience as a caretaker or similar role is helpful
Working Hours
- Approx. 21 hours/week
- Shifts alternate weekly:
- Early: 7am 1pm
- Late: approx. 3:30pm 11pm (varies by bookings)
- Includes occasional Saturdays and one regular Saturday shift (usually every third Saturday)
- Flexibility is essential willingness to cover shifts when needed is key
