About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Electrical Bias) with a strong background in DSEAR and hazardous area compliance to join a M&E contractor based in Glasgow. The role involves managing engineering projects across the process, water, energy, manufacturing, petrochemical, and industrial services sectors, ensuring compliance, safety, and delivery excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver projects from concept through design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Ensure compliance with DSEAR, ATEX, hazardous area zoning/classification, and relevant standards.
- Conduct site surveys, assess process hazards, and produce associated technical documentation.
- Prepare and review Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and supporting documentation.
- Review P&IDs, CAD drawings, HAZOP inputs, and Hazardous Area Classification drawings.
- Manage procurement, material scheduling, and supplier coordination to ensure timely project delivery.
- Monitor progress, budgets, and quality assurance throughout project lifecycles.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure safe, compliant project execution.
- Provide technical guidance on hazardous-area issues during installation and commissioning phases.
- Promote and maintain high safety standards on all work sites.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Proven project engineering experience in hazardous-area / DSEAR / ATEX environments.
- Strong knowledge of DSEAR regulations, ATEX, Hazardous Area Classification, and process safety.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and hazardous area documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable
- Professional membership (e.g.,IET, IChemE).
- Experience in the water, wastewater, or energy sectors.
- 18th Edition Electrical certification (if relevant).
- Familiarity with CDM regulations for construction projects.
