Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

An opportunity to join an established Civil Engineering contractor operating across Somerset and the surrounding counties. My client is recruiting for an experience Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to take commercial control of Civil Engineering and Highway projects and be responsible for supporting pricing, tenders and pre-contract planning, through to cost control and contractual compliance.

As an Estimating Quantity Surveyor, you will:

• Be responsible for preparing cost estimates and tender submissions for highways & civil engineering projects.
• Analyse drawings/specifications, and contract documents to prepare accurate costings.
• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating best value options.
• Maintain accurate records, control and reconcile costs and value, report variances against agreed performance, compliance and finance targets.
• Take control of change management.
• Be involved in a review of current procedures and processes and assist in the implementation of new and revised processes where required.

Our client requires an Estimating Quantity Surveyor with:

• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering discipline
• Experience of working for a Civil Engineering contractor.
• Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
• Strong commercial awareness and acumen.
• Excellent communication skills.

Salary and benefits include:

• 40,000 - 55,000 per annum
• Company vehicle, car allowance
• Holiday entitlement, pension scheme, sick pay etc.
