360 Excavator Operator - Sturminster (Residential Groundworks)

Established regional groundworks contractor delivering residential development projects across Dorset and surrounding counties.

Role Summary

Experienced 360 excavator operator required to work on a residential development in Sturminster. The role is site-based, full time, and involves operating a 360 excavator to carry out excavation, formation, drainage and general groundworks under the direction of the site foreman.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate 360 excavator safely and efficiently for excavation, trenching, bunding and material handling.
• Form and trim foundations, sub-bases and oversites to drawings and set levels.
• Install and backfill drainage runs and soakaways alongside groundworks team.
• Support groundworkers with lifting, placing and compaction of materials.
• Conduct daily plant checks, basic servicing and report defects.
• Maintain tidy, safe working areas and follow site-specific health and safety procedures.
• Read and work to drawings, setting out information and instructions from the site team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Valid CPCS or NPORS 360 excavator ticket.
• CSCS card or equivalent construction competency card.
• Proven experience operating 360 excavators on residential groundworks or new-build housing sites.
• Good understanding of health and safety on construction sites, including safe systems of work and PPE use.
• Ability to read basic site drawings and follow instructions.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
