Graduate Building Services Engineer

We are working with a respected multi-disciplinary Design & Build consultancy seeking to appoint a Graduate Building Services Engineer to join their growing Ely office.

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate (or final-year student) to begin their career in a design-led environment where projects span across commercial, industrial, and specialist sectors. Working closely with senior and chartered engineers, you ll gain exposure to all aspects of building services design and project delivery.

From day one you ll be involved in real projects assisting with surveys, technical drawings, and specifications, while learning how to translate design concepts into practical solutions.

You ll collaborate with architects, project managers, and clients, developing both your technical expertise and professional confidence. The role provides a strong foundation for progression towards chartership and offers genuine opportunities for long-term career development within a highly supportive team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and specification of building services systems including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
• Support with site surveys and data collection to inform design decisions
• Produce drawings and models using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards
• Contribute to client meetings, providing technical input and support
• Engage in training and CPD to develop your skills and stay current with industry practice

Skills & Experience Required

• Degree (or final-year study) in Building Services Engineering, Building Surveying, Architecture, or related discipline
• Familiarity with CAD/Revit or other design software
• Strong interest in design and building services systems
• Clear communicator, able to work as part of a team and independently
• Eager to learn, with ambition to progress towards professional qualifications (e.g. chartership)
• Full UK driving licence, with ability to attend site visits
• Eligible to live and work in the UK (Security Clearance required)

Position: Graduate Building Services Engineer

Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire

Duration: Permanent, full-time (part-time option for final-year students)

Salary: £25,000 £28,000
