Job Description

Job Title: Estimator Fire Protection

Location: Harrogate (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent

Overview:

We're working with a leading Fire Protection contractor who is looking to expand their commercial team with an experienced and detail-driven Estimator. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company with a strong track record in delivering high-quality passive fire protection solutions across commercial, residential, and education & healthcare sectors.

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the tendering and pricing of projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness while supporting the company s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review tender documentation and client requirements.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for fire protection works (e.g., fire stopping, compartmentation, intumescent coatings).
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare. comprehensive cost plans.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments to gather relevant pricing and technical information.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and pricing documents.
  • Assist with tender submissions, RFIs, and client presentations where required.
  • Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings as needed.
  • Monitor market trends, material costs, and subcontractor rates.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the Fire Protection or Passive Fire sector.
  • Strong knowledge of fire stopping passive Fire protection and fire Doors.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (FIRAS, BM TRADA, LPCB) and UK fire safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Conquest, Excel, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
