Position: Project Manager (Major Projects) Location: Midlands/Yorkshire - Hybrid (with occasional travel to company office and project sites as required) Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 About the Role We are looking for a skilled and motivated Project Manager (Major Projects) to join our clients team. You will support the Major Projects division, delivering high-quality projects across complex electrical infrastructure, including DNO/iDNO contestable works (33kV-132kV) and renewable energy balance of plant works (DC/LV up to 132kV). Key Responsibilities Represent the company in a professional and articulate manner, at all times, to all stakeholders. Ensure that all Special Projects being managed are delivered in a safe and responsible manner. Lead and manage change and variations. Ability to proactively identify and manage Risk. Write internal project specific RAMS where necessary. Manage internal and external project resources such as suppliers and subcontractors as necessary. Support the site manager where necessary and applicable. Review, record and manage all sub-contract Risk assessment and method statements (RAMS) Maintain and manage Site SHEQ documentation in line with company policy. Comply with project specific Monthly SHEQ Tours. Undertake and record Projects specific Quarterly SHEQ tours with a Senior Project Manager. Maintain Project specific documentation in line with the company's BMS. Maintain a Continual Professional development (CPD) strategy. About You Proven leader and team player. Management and leadership experience of managing project/programme budgets and resources. Extensive management and leadership experience of managing complex high value (> £5M) projects and budgets within M&E/Utility Technical Construction Environment. BTEC, >= NVQ Level 4 qualification in engineering. construction and/or management, and/or, equivalent knowledge, training and experience An excellent understanding of projects which would be classified as "notifiable" under the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015. Project management and delivery experience of complex high voltage customer electrical networks. Proven experience in delivering construction schemes under formal Construction Contracts such as NEC or JCT. High level of competence using Microsoft Project. APM/ PMI/ Prince Project Management certification, or equal equivalent, or working towards. We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Grid Connection Project Manager (Client Representative) to oversee the delivery of a major High Voltage substation project, including a 400kV connection in a National Grid substation. Acting on behalf of the client, you will ensure the successful planning, execution, and completion of all project phases from design and procurement through to commissioning and handover. This role is pivotal to safeguarding project objectives, maintaining compliance with technical, regulatory, and safety standards, and ensuring collaboration between the Client, contractors, and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Represent the Client's interests throughout the project lifecycle, from early-stage planning to commissioning and handover. Lead and manage external contractors and consultants involved in the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of HV substation works. Oversee the development of project scopes, schedules, budgets, and risk registers. Ensure compliance with National Grid or other connection standards, CDM regulations, and relevant industry standards (e.g. IEC, ENA). Act as the primary point of contact for the TSO/NESO, key project stakeholders, and internal leadership. Review and approve technical documents, designs, and method statements on behalf of the client. Monitor contractor performance, site progress, and ensure alignment with quality, safety, and environmental standards. Attend and lead site inspections, progress meetings, and stakeholder briefings. Support procurement and contract management activities, including tender evaluations and contract administration. Drive resolution of technical and project delivery issues. Ensure accurate project reporting, KPIs, and governance to the client's senior leadership team. Requirements Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience). Proven track record delivering HV substation projects (132kV and above), ideally in a client or EPC environment. Experience acting as a client representative or owner's engineer. Solid understanding of grid connection processes and stakeholder interfaces (e.g. National Grid, DNOs, ICPs). Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, HV safety procedures, and industry standards. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Project Management qualification (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, PMP) preferred. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required. Desirable Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it. Experience with BESS, renewable energy, or flexible generation integration projects. Knowledge of NEC or FIDIC contract forms.
