Cityscape Recruitment
Senior Quantity Surveyor - Structures & Civils
Cityscape Recruitment
Senior Quantity Surveyor Structures + Civil Engineering £80,000 to £110,000 per annum About the Employer: With offices in London our client is a specialist structures and civil engineering subcontractor who has been trading for over 30 years and currently has a total turnover of over £100 million per annum. They have developed from a traditional RC frame background into a company that now provides concrete works, structural steel works, associated groundworks, demolition and builders work packages to a variety of sectors and projects (i.e. airports, energy projects, rail projects, HS2, infrastructure projects, commercial projects and residential projects). This company really can provide an excellent level of diversity in both project types and sectors of work. From a people point of view, I have dealt with the MD and directors of the business for over 10 years and have seen them develop their team not just to fill spaces as new projects land or as they grow, but to truly bring people in who fit their culture and can bond with them for the long term. They are one of the better payers in the sector and always offer opportunity for people to progress, so they are the all-round solid option for someone who wants to be paid well, taken care of and also given a variety of projects to gain experience on. About the Opportunity: As a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for this business the duties are fairly straight forward; you will be required to maintain financial oversight on a selection of packages across individual or multiple projects (depending on the level of your experience). From the moment the project is awarded to when the final account is agreed, you will be expected to watch, report and maintain costs while reporting back to the directors. Every project you will be involved with will include structures and associated civils. And that is it. Simple! About the Requirements: To be considered the two most important criteria are that you have; 1) worked as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for 2) an RC frame & groundwork subcontractor in the UK or a specialist civil engineering subcontractor within the rail and infrastructure markets in the UK. Ideally applicants will be degree qualified in quantity surveying or commercial management, but the experience in this role with these types of contractors in the UK is the most important part. Also, I should mention that stability of employment is taken into account by everyone I work with. If you ve held stable periods of time with the employers you have worked for, it is seen as a massive positive. My clients will employ on a PAYE or self-employed / limited company basis, but make no mistake, they are looking for long-term people who are career focused and looking to stay on with the business for a number of years. About the Benefits: I am expecting to consider those looking to earn anywhere from £80,000 to £110,000 per annum. This can be paid PAYE or self-employed/limited company basis (circa £350 to £500 per day). Obviously, the level will be agreed on a case-by-case basis depending on previous experience, but I know these levels are available for people with the right experience. In addition to this, annual bonuses are available and travel costs. The office offers a modern feel with good transport and parking links. And the environment at this business is that of one with a family feel. They are a close-knit bunch, that work hard and play hard and personally I would be surprised if anyone struggles to get on with the team. About Me, Your Consultant: My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 20 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of structures, groundworks, demolition and civil engineering. So, what does that mean for you? It means, I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK as well as overseeing a team that covers the whole of civil engineering and I can help not only introduce you, but I can give you up to date information on a variety of contractors within these fields, helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward. I ve been doing this for a while now and I ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don t tell people lies. I tell them everything I know and then let them choose. My job is simply to get you the options, give you the information and then let you decide what feels right for you. How to Apply: I am more than happy to discuss these opportunities with you over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner (you can get to know me while I get to know you). And I know this is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete. It would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR laws, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, will help when we come to discuss options.
