The successful candidate will work across a variety of fit-out and refurbishment projects in the retail, leisure, and hospitality sectors. The projects range from smaller refurbishments to large-scale fit-outs, involving well-known fast food brands and leisure companies. The role will involve both office and site-based responsibilities, with a focus on ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will work alongside a collaborative team, supporting the commercial department and reporting to senior management. Key Responsibilities: Preparing and submitting tender submissions for a range of fit-out and refurbishment projects across the retail, leisure, and hospitality sectors. Managing and controlling project costs, ensuring that all works are completed within budget and in line with project specifications. Providing accurate cost estimates and valuations, and maintaining cost control during the project lifecycle. Managing the procurement of subcontractors and materials, ensuring value for money and on-time delivery. Producing regular reports and forecasts on project progress, costs, and margins. Assisting in contract administration and ensuring compliance with all relevant contractual obligations. Coordinating with the project management team to resolve any commercial or contractual issues. Conducting site visits to assess progress and resolve any issues on-site. Maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery. Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator, ideally within the refurbishment sector (Retail, Leisure, Care Homes, or Hotels). Strong knowledge of tendering processes, cost estimating, and contract administration. Experience in managing project costs from start to finish, with a solid understanding of financial reporting. Knowledge of procurement processes and supplier/subcontractor management. Familiarity with fast-paced environments and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. My client is currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to fill a permanent opening within their office located in the city centre of Glasgow due to an extensive pipeline of work.
With a healthy portfolio of projects ranging from, but not limited to, Affordable Housing, Hotels, Commercial, Retail and Leisure. This opportunity is one that will give you the variety you might lacking in your current position.
Interested candidates will ideally be MRICS with a solid working knowledge of JCT and NEC Contracts.
This opportunity is certainly one without a glass ceiling as my client has a fantastic track record of promoting staff from within and a very low staff turnover.
On offer for the Senior Quantity Surveyor (PQS)
This position offers a basic salary of £45-50k which can be negotiated depending on experience, project exposure and a fantastic opportunity for career progression.
