Their experienced and knowledgeable workforce can tackle projects from simple building frames to complex structures. With plants in the England they can process 50,000 tonnes of steel per annum and can service clients at locations throughout the UK and Europe. Due to growth of their business they are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join their team at their site in Barnsley. Working hours Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.30pm Friday 8.30am to 4.45pm THE BENEFITS: Company Pension, health cash plan and sick pay scheme THE ROLE: As an Estimator you will be responsible for Prepare competitive tenders and estimates for building projects Consider factors such as technical, materials, transportation, fabrication, and erection costs Evaluate key interface packages including metal decking, precast stairs, edge protection, and intumescent fire protection, among others Produce quotations and complete clients' pricing documents Participate in tender adjudication, document submission, and client meetings throughout the tender process Facilitate handover of projects to the delivery team upon award Play a key role in winning new business Collaborate closely with departments such as design, construction, and sales Cultivate and maintain relationships internally and with clients and their professional teams THE CANDIDATE: A minimum of 3 years of estimating or quantity surveying experience Be competent in reading from engineers' and architects' drawings, and a background in fabrication would be advantageous, but not essential. Reporting into the Director, you will be responsible for pricing packages of work generally between £500k - £2m and be involved from ECI, assisting with tender responses, attending tender & pre-site meetings, presenting to the client and advising at tender negotiations. We seek an experienced steelwork professional with experience working as either a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator to join a small but successful steelwork fabrication business based in Coventry, West Mids as their Commercial Manager. The company specialises in the design, fabrication and erection of a range of structural steelwork for the construction industry. Projects undertaken vary but are typically steel framed buildings/portal frames valued up to £250k. Estimator/Commercial Manager will work alongside the Company Director to: * Coordinate the Estimating department and prioritise tenders. * Maintain relationships with clients. * Hands on Estimating - Read drawings and produce take-offs and bills of quantities etc. * Assisting with the preparation on quotes/tenders. Estimator/Commercial Manager requirements: * Previous experience working as a steelwork Estimator is essential. * Experience working on projects such as steel framed buildings would be highly advantageous. * Experience dealing with final accounts, re-measures, variation management etc would be advantageous but is not essential. * Must have a good eye for details and be an effective communicator both written and verbally. Assistant/Trainee Estimator Our client is one of the most advanced steelwork manufacturers in Great Britain – a specialist in the provision of steel frames for buildings. The Assistant/Trainee Estimator role will be working as part of the existing Estimating team to assist with their typical duties - responding to new enquiries, reading and measuring drawings for pricing and tender purposes. Full training will be given where necessary. You may be just be numerate, IT savvy with good attention to detail and some experience of technical drawings (and willing to learn) or you be all these things and possess several years experience working as part of a steel fabrications team. All individuals somewhere on this scale will be considered.
