Mechanical Project Manager
Nelson Permanent Placements are currently representing a well-established & growing Mechanical and Electrical Contractor based in Birmingham, that are looking to add an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to their team.
Our client’s mechanical division specialises in a range or of areas including Heating, Ventilation, Plumbing predominantly in Residential, Student Accommodation, Theatres, Supermarkets, Schools from the value of £30k-£2 Million
These projects are across the midlands, so they will be open to applications from the area.
As the Mechanical Project Manager, you will ensure the projects are running accordingly with the installation and specification requirements whilst ensuring compliance with specification and contract documentation.
To be considered for this role you must have 3+ years’ experience managing Mechanical projects.
The Mechanical Project Manager will have the following duties and responsibilities:
* Pre-construction - procurement of subcontractors, materials and plant.
* Planning to make sure the projects completed are profitable.
* Attending meetings with Principle Contractors, Consultants and Architects.
* Carry out project administration-progress reports.
* Fully resource project and implement any H&S matters.
* Lead, drive and encourage site team.

* Negotiating experience in project presentations.
* Ability to solve complex, multi-faceted problems using various problem-solving techniques
* Good written and oral communications skills and polished presentation skills
* Ability to interpret contractual documents, plans, specifications, schematic diagrams and isometric drawings

* Knowledge of computer operating systems, hardware and software
* Persistence and determination
* Able to use your initiative
* Be thorough and pay attention to detail
* Maths knowledge
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* 4 years minimum of relevant work experience managing mechanical construction projects is required. Renovation work experience is a plus

Your new role
You will act as a Project Manager / Clerk of works for a handful of high profile projects such as a major boiler plant replacement at a sheltered scheme. You will provide specialist technical support and guidance to the organisation where work involves specialist mechanical components or systems. You will also take on a Clerk of Works role for heating and boiler installations, providing guidance and recommendations to the compliance offer in relation to the gas servicing.
What you'll need to succeed
Strong Mechanical knowledge and technical ability.
Good knowledge of Gas installations and servicing on Domestic & Commercial public properties
Ability to effectively communicate reports and scopes of work.
Experience managing Mechanical projects.
Appropriate Mechanical qualifications such as a Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent.
