We are looking for an experienced Document Controller to join the project team on a 10-month freelance contract , supporting the delivery of a live school refurbishment project. The successful candidate must have previous Department for Education (DfE) project experience and be confident working with 4Projects (4P). You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and control of project documentation, ensuring information is accurately recorded, distributed and maintained in line with project and DfE requirements. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain all project documentation, drawings, specifications and correspondence. Administer the project's document control system using 4Projects (4P). Upload, issue, track and distribute drawings and technical documentation to the relevant project stakeholders. Maintain accurate document registers, revision histories and audit trails. Ensure documentation is correctly named, filed and controlled in accordance with agreed project procedures. Coordinate information between the site team, design team, subcontractors, consultants and client. Support the management of RFIs, technical submissions, approvals and design information. Monitor outstanding documentation and follow up with the relevant parties to ensure information is received in line with the programme. Assist the project team with DfE reporting, handover documentation and project records. Maintain confidentiality and ensure project information is appropriately controlled throughout the contract. Essential Experience Candidates must have: Previous Document Controller experience within the construction industry. Previous experience working on DfE (Department for Education) projects. Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience of 4Projects / 4P. Experience working on school, education or refurbishment projects. Experience supporting site-based construction and design teams. Strong understanding of document control procedures, drawing registers, revisions and approval workflows. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
