Description
Electricians are expected to install, service and maintain electrical systems on new build projects to a high quality standard in accordance with the current Edition of Wiring Regulations to assist qualified electricians in providing a comprehensive electrical installation and maintenance service to our clients according to the latest IEE wiring regulations.
The Electrician is a key member of the M&E Project team and will be expected to work with colleagues in developing and implementing the Project Execution plan to achieve Client and Company objectives.
Electricians report to the Site supervisor & are responsible for maintaining the quality systems on the projects. Be professional in their approach to dealing with others.
Duties
* Following the instructions issued by Line Managers to ensure compliance with contract arrangements
* Ensuring all activities under their control are undertaken in accordance with the quality system.
* Reading and taking information off drawings and specifications
* Ensuring they are working to correct drawings and specifications
* Ensuring Method statements and risk assessments are in place before any activities take place on site
* Liaising with the Site supervisors to ensure maximum productivity is being achieved on the site by all operatives.
* Installation of electrical works to a high standard with minimum supervision
* Attend site where allocated and be in attendance for 8 hours
* Site drawing & specification compliance of systems they are installing
* Control of own plant and tools.
* Attend toolbox talks.
* Maintaining progress of the works in accordance with agreed programmes.
* Ensuring Quality of installation work in accordance with client specified requirements.
* Complete weekly timesheets and A & B sheets and submit to office weekly.
* Sign in and out of HME site office daily.
* Ensure sickness and absence is reported to the office in accordance with the company procedures.
* Inform supervisors of materials required and used on site for their works.
* Maintaining progress of the works in accordance with agreed programmes.
* Use correct tolls for the tasks being carried out.
* Read and understand all method statements and risk assessments before carrying out any activities on site.
* Any other duties as deemed necessary, if these duties are of a greater level of responsibility or skill of those required in the post then full training and appropriate supervision will be provided.
Health & Safety
* Co-operating with the employer or any other person in order to ensure that statutory requirements concerning Health and Safety are met
* Not to recklessly or intentionally interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of Health and Safety.
* To assist with regular Health and Safety inspections in their own workplace.
The post holder must be prepared to comply with all the Groups policies.
Must be prepared to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding and work in confined spaces and in a variety of work conditions that may prevail at that time.
Must be prepared to undertake any additional training associated with the specific requirements of the trade, as well as training in Equal Opportunities.
Must Build up a full, well-maintained tool kit at all times.
Essential criteria
The role holder will be able to install, repair, inspect & test electrical installations and have the ability to fill in correctly, the appropriate Electrical Certificate or Electrical Report for the type of work being undertaken.
City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2 , NVQ3 or equivalent City and Guilds 2381 (16th Edition of the Wiring Regulations)
City and Guilds 2391 (or to have shown competence in the area of inspection & testing electrical installations, in accordance with Guidance Note 3 of the IEE and have knowledge of a variety of electrical installation work. Or have been assessed by such persons as the NICEIC for the role of Qualifying Supervisor)
