We are recruiting for a specialist Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor for a Tier contractor for a scheme in Reading. They are based locally and work across Reading, Oxford and the M4 corridor on framework schemes up to 70 million in the education, care, NHS, local authority, student and commercial marketplaces. They have won a major new scheme in Reading with a major MEP package and are going to self deliver the package with both direct labour and smaller specialist subcontractors in place. They have an excellent team in place - Building Services Managers, Mechanical Site Managers and Electrical Site Managers to manage the design and build elements and supervise and drive the project forward and now need the final piece of the jigsaw - the commercial management of the scheme. The project has been in detailed 2nd stage and is now getting close to start on site so initially you will be responsible for pre selection and procurement of the packages, agreeing terms and budgets with supply chain and supporting the internal delivery team. You will then move onto site and as part of the wider commercial team help deliver the scheme by managing the M&E packages and you will have full responsibility for payments, valuations, variations, remeasures, CVR assessments and will help contribute to the weekly briefings on site and fortnightly progress meetings. They are fully expecting this delivery model to evolve and develop into a process they can use on every major or complex scheme moving forward so you will be able to have a huge impact on how the business develops.
