I am looking for two Quantity Surveyors that are interested in joining a growing concrete frame and groundwork subcontractor based on the borders of Essex and East London with offices also near Gatwick. And due to the location of our client’s office, it is also advisable that applicants are based in or around Essex, Kent, South London or the southern home counties to make the journey to either of their offices a sensible one. We have been asked to source a Health & Safety Manager to work as part of the senior safety team within a £100m+ turnover RC frame & groundwork specialist contractor.
This position will report to the department head and the managing director of the business and will involve oversight of all of the businesses live sites and the safety advisors. Based from our client’s head office with regular site visits across all of London, this will be a busy, face-paced position, with senior management responsibility and client facing expectation.

As a Project Construction Manager your duties & responsibilities will include:

This business is one of my top clients. Having worked with them for the past 10+ years I have seen them develop in both size and capability over this time. They now currently turnover above £120 million per annum, building concrete frame and groundwork packages ranging in value up to £30 million each for a variety of residential contractors and developers throughout London and the surrounding Home Counties. They have a very modern edge to the business while maintaining traditional roots and are still privately owned by the original MD (who is a true gent).
On a personal note, I believe this company is one of the best not only for the projects they help complete but also because of the environment they create for the people who work there. They go that extra mile to not only to retain their staff but to truly keep them happy to be with the business. Small things have been added to the office like a gym that people have access to all day with an extra half an hour breaks given three times a week for anyone who wants to use it. They have a treatments room where massages and cosmetic treatments are available to everyone on Fridays free of charge, all you have to do is book in. And with plans in place for a rooftop garden and BBQ area, I’d want to work here myself if I had the relevant experience in this role! They really are a great company to work for to gain great project experience, to develop capability in modern construction techniques, and to be part of the values they believe in.
About the Opportunity:
We have been asked to find specialist concrete frame and groundwork Project Manager capable of delivering packages ranging in value from £10 million up to £30 million each (anywhere in between). The initial sites are in West London and South East London.
Individuals will need to have a strong understanding of everything from piling, groundworks, basement construction, and concrete frame construction while working on a mixture of residential and mixed-use schemes.
Usual duties will apply from overall management of the site team, technical management of the programme and works, through to management of the client and surrounding aspects (i.e. health & safety, temporary works and client meetings).
About the Requirements:
Suitable construction professionals will ideally be degree qualified in civil engineering or construction management and will be able to show a strong history from a site engineer level through to management over the last 5-10+ years.
It is crucial that applicants can show a strong amount of concrete frame and groundwork construction background having worked for a rival concrete frame and groundwork subcontractors in the UK. Individuals from a main contract or consultancy background cannot be considered.
Regarding software, our client uses the usual Microsoft programmes, standard email functions and Asta Power Project for planning/programming works. Project Managers will be required to use all these tools.
About the Salary / Rewards:
For the right person, our client is looking to offer market-leading packages including a strong salary or rate with added benefits. If PAYE paid you can expect a basic salary ranging from £70,000 to £100,000 depending on your experience, plus a car allowance, full benefits and a targeted project-related bonus. If self-employed, day rates range from £300 to £450 per day and you will be covered for travel costs and you will also be given project-related bonuses.
This company really does pay their people well to make sure they are happy and look to stay long term and in addition to that, clear criteria are provided on how to hit the bonuses so that people are incentivised to perform well and in return receive very good bonuses.
