We are looking for an individual who can assist the technical services department within our clients roofing division, specifically focused on metal and bituminous flat roofing for commercial buildings. You will be responsible for the generation of bespoke specifications, thermal calculations and technical drawings, ensuring our projects comply with building regulation, technical support for contractors and the sales team. You will be required to visit construction sites during the planning stage, construction phase and after the project has been completed to quality check the installation and answer any technical questions our clients or contractors may have. Skills Required * Excellent organisation and communication skills, both written and oral. * Good presentation skills. * A good technical understanding of commercial flat roofing and metal systems, in particular standing seam systems, both in its design, construction, and specification. * A good understanding of current building regulation for commercial and domestic properties. * Excellent computer skills with Office applications, AutoCAD. * Problem solving ability and to be able to work to time scales. * Able to work under pressure from a demanding sales force and prioritise work. * Bonus skills * An understanding of building facades and their construction/design. * The ability to perform structural calculations and have professional qualifications to do so. * A good understanding of CDM 2015 and the responsibilities as a designer/principle designer. Estimator/Surveyor (Roofing) – Ware, Hertfordshire  £50-60K + Pension + Healthcare + Benefits Permanent   You will be working within a small Head Office based team in Ware in Hertfordshire and will be a key team member. You will be expected to work closely with the existing team and to provide support by using initiative and drive to bring tasks to a satisfactory and effective conclusion. A proactive approach will be required at all times.Travel to sites/clients will be required as and when applicable and if fully expensed.   To produce priced tenders that are accurate,clearly detailed,competitive and returned within deadlines.Maintain good relationships with prospective clients and professionals to promote further tender invitations and provide clearly identified price build ups to the Contract team.   Responsibilities include:   Tenders Carefully inspect tender documentation. Identify areas that may have contractual implications. Provide a detailed Take off and Bill of Quantities (BQ) using Excel Work on traditional Plan and Specification and Design and Build Contracts. Send out enquiries to suppliers Assess individual rates and prices, amend, create new or insert from material and subcontract quotes. Assess construction sequence and methods to determine the specific preliminary requirements.   Meetings Attend pre and post-tender meetings with clients   Handover Prepare pre-start project package for site management and QS Collate drawings and specifications ready for use on site Ensure products ordered and compliant with project specifications Provide information to in-house architect Price and agree variations to contract   Skills Sought: Previous experience in a similar environment Knowledge of building, material components, building regulations, estimating (including taking off) and H&S PC skills; Outlook, Word, Excel Knowledge of contractual procedures and responsibilities Good negotiation and communication skills Highly numerate with strong analytical and reasoning abilities Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise Confident and resourceful with ability to work alone or within a team Driving licence and car owner.
